What is the Youth Mental Health Council?

The Youth Mental Health Council is the leadership heart of the Tallahassee Youth Mental Health Collective. It brings together youth, young adults, educators, clinicians, and community advocates to co-create programs, lead initiatives, and strengthen the mental health ecosystem in the Big Bend region. Council members collaborate across generations, institutions, and lived experiences to drive forward a shared vision of community-rooted mental wellness.

Who Can Join?

We welcome individuals who are passionate about youth mental health and committed to community leadership, including:

  • High school students

  • College and graduate students

  • Psychiatry residents and early-career professionals

  • Educators and school-based mental health staff

  • Community partners and nonprofit leaders

  • Representatives from local mental health organizations

What Do Council Members Do?

Council members may:

  • Lead school-based mental health campaigns and peer education

  • Represent their institution or organization in monthly Council meetings

  • Design workshops, events, and resource toolkits

  • Participate in or mentor through our intergenerational leadership ladder

  • Build partnerships across schools, clinics, and nonprofits

  • Contribute to advocacy and systems-change initiatives
